and then it happened... real life took over, adrenaline petered out, sleep deprivation got its nasty claws on me and the struggle of breast feeding a premature little guy kicked into full gear. what seems like the better part of the last month has been spent at the hospital, where we've had a few serious health scares, and that's when the bubble burst. i, my friends, am not superwoman.
which is too bad, because i've been hoarding all of this great information that i collected and experienced at the food show just before i went into labor, each day vowing that today would be the day to actually share it with you. and if not today, then surely tomorrow! superwoman would have written this post three and a half weeks ago, for sure! and she would have been wearing a thong and pre-pregnancy jeans while she did it.... confirmed, for so many reasons, i am not her! but here i am, on the day that sweet crew tucker is officially 6 weeks old, in stretchy leggings and wonderful slippers, about to hook you up with my findings from this great show that is almost yesterdays news now... almost, had it not been so juicy and fantastic.
so here we go...
i'm going to fill you in on the goods, awards-show style, a little bit each day so i don't have you sitting at your computer for hours on end. the first award to be given out is for:
nutritious meets delicious
(this company is also the unknowing recipient of two other awards:
most endearing owner & most generous)
not only are they local to the vancouver area, they are one of the very very few companies who use organic, non-gmo raw ingredients to create their products. it is rare that a company uses that standard of ingredients to begin with, and almost unheard of that a gluten free company be certified with these titles!
it is also rare that i would enjoy a packaged gluten-free product so much. i find that i gravitate towards fresh bakeries and eateries, and rave most about those products that are made the day-of. that being said, glutenull somehow makes all of their goods with moisture in them! i know, unheard of, right!? they are fresh, to begin with, not frozen, and because they are loaded with high-quality, nutrient-dense ingredients, each glutenull loaf of bread could be used for a small kitchen workout should you misplace your dumbells... they are dense as heck, but they are moist! the muffins are my very favorite, and a staple in our house even moreso since encountering them at the food show. here's what happened...
the generous, endearing owner of glutenull gifted me with some of their products that sunny sunday, and when we packed up to go to the hospital later that day to have this baby, i grabbed a couple of the packages to bring with us. one of those was the agave quartet muffins. ingredients: carrots, raisins, dates...to name a few. and a whole lot of other good stuff! no word of a lie, those muffins sustained me through labor and the whole hospital stay! i turned down the oh-so-delicious hospital food, and lived on glutenull. what a great gift they didn't even know they were giving me!!
my other raves from this company: coco moko cookies (practically shortbread), buckwheat bread, fruit & nut breakfast bars, and granola! best gluten free granola, hands down! check out their website for products, ingredients, and most importantly, which of your local stores carry their products!
stay tuned for my next favorite things -
