a funny little story...

once upon a time... actually last weekend... i had the great priviledge of attending the Fraser Valley Food Show, inside which was the Gluten Free Living Show!  it was a really impressive event, and i have so much to share with you!!  there are some new products that totally trump the existing products on the market, some other products that really turned my crank, and some companies who spoiled me rotten.  let me tell you this - after the show i actually had cramps in my biceps from carrying around all of my purchases and aquisitions from the day!  and if i'm being really honest, when i take into account the atmosphere, companies represented, and overall experience, i would have to say that i enjoyed this show more than i enjoyed the Gluten Free Expo earlier in the year.
i want to tell you all about my favs and my not-so-favs, hit you up with lots of pictures and point you in the direction of some very delicious things, but first i need to tell you this funny little story.

once upon a time i attended the Gluten Free Living Show, last sunday.  I had hoped to go on Friday as to make sure there were samples-a-plenty, but my little buddy dane who usually attends everything foodie with me had to take a sick day from school and wasn't up to the outing.  Saturday wasn't an option, as I had to pretend I was superwoman and walk a 5km race in the city called "Color Me Rad", completely in denial of the fact that I was, at this point, 8 months pregnant.  we are definitely on a tangent but since we're already there, you might as well enjoy the after picture from the race...

and rest assured that all the color used (which definitely ended up in my mouth and nose... and ears, and armpits, and turning my hair yellow) was gluten free.
let's get back on track.  so saturday was out of the question for the show, which left only sunday.  i just love that this whole weekend we're mulling over was so divinely orchestrated, so perfectly lined up so that first i would have a sweet day at home full of cuddles with my little man, then a day out with my mom and sisters doing something zany and fun, followed by a sunny sunday of sampling, interviewing, and ultimately gathering a large amount of ready-to-eat, gluten free food... only to return home and go into labour!  true story.

a wonderful, beautiful, gift that only God could create was the sweetest, most precious icing on a great, gluten free cake that was last weekend.  crew tucker was born last monday, just over 3 weeks early, wee little but happy and healthy!!  his big brother has spent the week eating french macarons and sharing endless kisses with his much-prayed-for little brother, and we are overjoyed and so, so thankful.

all this to say, it is not at all my style to wait a week and a half before writing about an event, especially one that impressed and excited me as much as this one did.  but as i spend what seems like 20 hours of every day feeding this little bird, i'm soaking up the snuggles and enjoying sweet crew - leaving me far from my computer.  stay tuned, i will hit you up with details very soon and give you some food for thought as you head into your weekend!

thanks for your grace, talk to you very soon -

my name is jess, and i'm a mama, a passionate foodie, and i love to learn - and i'm celiac.  actually, so is my son.  combining that minor detail with my love of food and life has given me great reason to create a lifestyle that is both gluten free, and a heck of a lot of fun.  i'd love to help you do the same!
